Prashant Bhushan, who was expelled from Aam Aadmi Party, has alleged that the party is being run by a Khap Panchayat with a dictator at its helm.
Following weeks of public drama, AAP expelled founder members Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav along with two others late last night.
Talking to media, Bhushan said all dreams of a movement have been shattered by a small coterie and a dictator. He, however, said that there is no question of personal loss.
Yogendra Yadav questioned whether Pankaj Gupta and Ashish Khetan’s presence in the disciplinary committee, who were a party to the dispute, conforms to the natural spirit of justice. He said it is his duty to continue to take AAP’s spirit forward.
The decision to sack Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha from the party was taken by the party’s national disciplinary committee last night.
The committee was not satisfied with the response it got to the show-cause notice issued last week. AAP spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said, these leaders were expelled for gross indiscipline, anti-party activities and violation of code of conduct of the party.
Meanwhile, hitting out at party chief Arvind Kejriwal, AAP founder member Shanti Bhushan asked why he has not been expelled till now. Expressing displeasure over the expulsion of party leaders, Bhushan said it is not an example of clean and democratic politics.
