Minister of State for External Affairs General V.K.Singh said that Army should not be deployed in any anti Maoist operation.
In a discussion programme, on his autobiography Courage and Convictions in Raipur Tuesday , he said Maoist problem is a socio-economic and governance issue and needs to be addressed accordingly.
He said at the same time, it is not a secessionist movement and it would not be correct to use the Army against our own people.
He said he had opposed the deployment of army in the Maoist-affected areas in the meeting held with the then Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
