Prakash Mishra takes charge as DG ,CRPF

The 1977 batch Odisha cadre Senior IPS officer Prakash Mishra on
Monday took charge as the Director General of the Central Reserve
Police Force (CRPF) , the country’s largest paramilitary force.
Assuming office ,Mishra said that during his stint as DGP Odisha he
had achieved significant success in the fight against Left Wing
Extrimists and would like to utilize his experience to formulate a
strartegy for combating Maoists elsewhere to ensure minimum casualty
of the forces during the operation.
My special focus would be on curbing the growing Maoist menace in the
states like Chhatishgarah, Jharkhand and Bihar, he said
On the Odisha government’s plea for more CRPF battalions and
helicopters, he said the home ministry would take the final decision
provided the state government properly presented its demand.
Prior to his taking charge of new assignment, Mishra was serving as
Special Secretary , Internal Security , Ministry of Home Affairs, as
Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Mishra had earlier served as the DG, National Disaster Response Force
(NDRF) and Director General of Police (DGP) in Odisha.Senior IPS officer Prakash Mishra
