Farmers plight and Rape Attempt In Bus In Punjab Rock Lok Sabha

Issues of farmers’ plight and rape attempt in a private bus in Punjab rocked the Lok Sabha Thursday , leading to adjournment for five minutes.

Members of Opposition parties from Punjab of both Congress and AAP demanded a debate during Zero Hour on both the issues .

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan rejected the demand for discussion as noisy scenes prevailed with Members of Congress and AAP trooping into the Well.

The Opposition Members shouted slogans showing newspaper clippings, following which the Speaker Mahajan adjourned the House at 1240 hrs.

Ms Mahajan said she will allow the debate on the matter in the evening.

Back from a tour of Punjab mandis, Rahul Gandhi, Congress, Wednesday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the plight of farmers across the country. Gandhi accused the government of not procuring the produce of farmers, a charge that was flatly rejected by the government.
