India on Tuesday pressed six more teams of National Disaster Response Force, NDRF, personnel into its relief and rescue operations. With this ,the total number of NDRF teams in the quake-hit country has now gone up to 16.
Ten teams are already engaged in rescue operations for the last few days. Each NDRF team has about 45 personnel.
A special 16-member medical team of the Indian Navy will tonight fly to Nepal from New Delhi to assist the rescue operations in the Himalayan nation. The team, consisting of six doctors and 10 medical assistants.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the situation arising from the Earthquake at a meeting with Home Minister Rajnath Singh and top officials this morning. Union Ministers Ananth Kumar, Radha Mohan Singh and J P Nadda will go to Bihar tomorrow to take stock of the situation and co-ordinate relief efforts.
The meeting of National Crisis Management Committee chaired by Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth was also held to take stock of rescue and relief efforts.
