IPL-8 : Rajsthan Royals Register 3rd Successive Win, Beat Mumbai Indians by 7 Wickets

In the Indian Premier League-8 , Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at the Sardar patel Stadium Ahmedabad Tuesday registering third successive victory five ball to spare, while Mumbai Indians were unfortunate facing third consecutive loss .

Rajsthan Royals achieved the 165 run target set by Mumbai Indians in 19.1 Overs with Steven Smith scoring highest 75 runs off 53 balls.

Rajsthan Royals captain Steven Smith was Man of the Match for his unbeaten 79 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane made vital 46 runs while Sanju Samson scored 17, and Deepak hooda Scored 13 run off 4 balls.

For Mumbai Indians Binaya kumar, Lasith Malinga and Shreyas Gopal took one wicket each.

Earlier Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first against Rajasthan Royals at in their third encounter in the ongoing IPL.

Stifled by Rajsthan bowlers ,Mumbai Indians batting first came under pressure with regular fall of early wickets and lost three wickets in 9.5 overs when the team’s score was only 45. Rohit Sharma who did not open the innings today however was out for zero.

However, the Kieron Pollard and Corey Anderson came as savior for Mumbai and the pair helped to reach 164 .

Mumbai Indians made 164 runs losing five wickets in stipulated 20 overs with Kieron Pollard scoring highest 70 runs off 34 balls followed by half century by Corey Anderson. Pollard also hit highest five sixes and seven four in his innings.

Mumbai Indians made three changes. Harbhajan Singh, Aditya Tare, Ambati Rayudu were replaced by Unmukt Chand, Parthiv Patel and Shreyas Gopal respectively.

For Rajsthan Royals Tim Southee, Crish Moris, Dhabalkulkarni, Staurt Binny and Pravin Tambe got one wicket each.

In the present edition, both the teams have played three games each. While Rajasthan Royals won both their earlier matches, Mumbai have not tasted a win so far.
