JEE Advanced 2017: SC stays counselling, admission to IITs

07 July, New Delhi

Supreme Court Friday restrained further counselling or admissions to seats in IIT JEE (Advanced)-2017 till further orders.

The apex court also said that no High Court should entertain any petition from today concerning the IIT JEE (advanced) counselling. A Bench of Justices Dipak Misra and AM Khanwilkar issued the order in a petition filed by one Aishwarya Agarwal.

The petitioner has cited errors in one set of question papers in her challenge to the admission process.

The matter will now be heard on July 10.

The students were awarded grace marks as the answer key to seven of the questions went missing. A petition filed before the court had objected to the awarding of grace marks to all candidates, irrespective of whether they attempted these questions.

The stay applies to all institutes that used the IIT-JEE (Advanced) 2017 for admissions. The top court has now said that will come up with a new method to grant the marks.
