Malayalam actor remanded to Judicial custody

Leading Malayalam actor Dileep, who has been arrested by the police in connection with the alleged abduction and sexual exploitation of an actress, was remanded to 14-day Judicial Custody by a Magistrate, Tuesday.

The actor, who had been under the cloud of suspect immediately after the crime reported against the actress, arrested by the police last evening after a marathon interrogation at a secret place, brought to the residence of the Magistrate amid tight security. The magistrate remanded the actor to 14-day judicial custody.

Later the actor was shifted to a jail in Aluva.
The actor had been charged under Section 120(B) of IPC, Criminal Conspiracy to commit an offence.

Veteran counsel K Ramkumar would appear for Dileep, and the latter’s bail application had been moved in the court and it was expected to be considered tomorrow.

Since immediately after the incident came to light all the fingers were pointed towards Dileep, scores of his fans and other people were gathered outside the residence of the magistrate on hearing that the actor would be brought to the magistrate’s house and shouted slogans against him. Ramkumar alleged that the actor was arrested after being “framed” in the case. Police said there is no instruction from the magistrate to provide any special facilities to Dileep in jail.

Putting an end to all speculations, police, after a marathon interrogation recorded his arrest around 1830 hours and brought to the Aluva Police club.

Though he had to taken to the magistrate’s house later last night itself, he could be able to produce before the magistrate only this morning.

The arrest was confirmed by the DGP and said the arrest was made following solid evidence against the actor, which by all means shocked the Malayalam film industry, as they were all stood behind the actor protecting him, stating that he was not involved in the crime.
