15 April, Bhubaneswar
Chief Minister of Odisha and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president, Naveen Patnaik, today opposed any move of divestment of public sector undertaking (PSU) National Aluminium Company (NALCO) by the Centre.
He said there is no need of any disinvestment from NALCO, as the company has been making profits for long.
Patnaik said this after returning to Bhubaneswar from a week-long visit to Delhi. Presently, the Centre holds 87.15 per cent stake in NALCO, which has plants in Odisha’s Damanjodi and Angul.
According to some media reports, the Centre has shortlisted 13 PSUs, including NALCO, for divestment this fiscal.
On the abduction of seven people by the Maoists from Kartanpalli in Mathili block of Malkangiri district, the Odisha Chief Minister said police are making all efforts to trace the abductors and secure their release.
