SC upholds fine on petitioner alleging corruption against Nitish Govt

The Supreme Court today upheld the fine imposed on a petitioner who had in his plea alleged corruption against the Nitish Kumar Government.

The top court also rejected the petitioner, Mithilesh Kumar Singh’s review petition in the case.A division bench comprising Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud, dismissed the review petition filed by Singh.

The apex court today upheld the fine of Rs one-lakh imposed on Mr Singh and asked him to deposit it within a week’s time.

Singh had also filed a review petition in the apex court, challenging its earlier order which had imposed one-lakh rupees fine on him.

Singh had also filed a plea in the apex court seeking a CBI inquiry into the Nitish Kumar Government’s alleged involvement in corruption.

The Supreme Court had dismissed his petition and had imposed a fine of Rs one lakh for wasting the court’s precious time.
