Somnath Bharti’s Advance Bail Plea Cancelled In Domestic Violence Case

14 September, New Delhi

A local court Monday dismissed the anticipatory bail of AAP leader and former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti in the domestic violence case.

Additional Session Judge Sanjay Garg after hearing arguments on behalf of the Prosecution and defence ordered to dismiss the anticipatory bail of Bharti.

It is alleged that Bharti has been abusing his wife Lipika Mitra ever since their marriage in 2010. She claimed that Bharti beat and tortured her and once even tried to kill her.

Police said the FIR was registered against Bharti following the June 10 complaint of Bharti’s wife Lipika Mitra. First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Bharti under several sections of the Indian Penal code (IPC), including domestic violence and attempt to murder, at Dwarka North police station in west Delhi.
