Thousands of youths were lathi charged Monday following which they pelted stones and law and order problem broke out at an Army’s recruitment rally in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The rally meant only for the recruits from Reasi district but thousands of youths from other districts also reached the venue for physical test,” an official here said.
He said as soon as the announcement was made regarding entry only to the candidates of a particular district, the situation went out of control and the recruits started pelting stones. Police was called in and they resorted to cane charge.
“One of recruits also died but not due to stone pelting or lathi charge but died during the physical test,” said the official. According to sources, around 20,000 recruits appeared to take part in the rally for 1,300 posts.
